Siddharth Shankar won first place honors at the 14th Annual GIS Day Student Poster competition held on Wednesday, November 18 at the KU Memorial Union. The event was hosted by the University of Kansas Department of Geography and Atmospheric Science.
Shankar's topic was "Quantifying Iceberg Distribution in Rink Fjord Using Satellite Remote Sensing." His advisor for the project was Leigh Stearns. The poster covered such areas as abstracts, objectives, study areas, iceberg distribution, methodology, conclusions, and future work to be done on the project. His poster and presentation was well-received by the judges and spectators alike.
