COVID-19 update

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, KU has decided to postpone 2020 Commencement. There will be no in-person, Commencement-related activities, including graduation recognition ceremonies for the Geology Department until late Summer or Early Fall. Students who meet graduation requirements will still have their degrees certified. The only thing that will be delayed is Commencement, which KU hopes to reschedule for a later date. Please check the Commencement website for updates.

The Geology Department will hold their postponed ceremonies the same weekend as KU's Commencement. Please check back for updated schedules.

Virtual Celebrations

Although the University of Kansas 2020 Commencement ceremony has been postponed until it is safe to reconvene, we still wish to recognize the incredible achievements of our graduating Jayhawks. The University will host an online event commemorating the Class of 2020 on Sunday, May 17, at 11:30 a.m. For details, visit

"The trips I took with KU Geology will continue to be the most memorable experiences of my college career. These trips taught me how to be a Geologist and introduced me to some amazing professors and peers.

[After graduation] I will be heading to Omaha, Nebraska to pursue a career as an Academic Advisor for STEM students."
