Biography —

B.S., Allegheny College. Geology Major, Biology Minor. Undergraduate thesis: Depositional environment of an Upper Devonian sandstone in northwestern Pennsylvania. M.S., University of Georgia. M.S. in Geology. Thesis: Marginal marine/nonmarine depositional environments of the Spring Canyon Member, Upper Cretaceous Blackhawk Formation, Carbon County, Utah. Ph.D., University of Georgia. Dissertation: Analysis of the Permian-Triassic system boundary in south central Utah: paleotopography, stratal relations, unconformities.

Research —

Dr. Kamola's work in clastics includes a wide variety of depositional environments, but focuses mainly on facies analysis of shallow marine shorelines and associated marginal marine environments, including tidal and barrier island settings. She has also worked in eolian, lacustrine and volcaniclastic deposits, relating the depositional record of these environments to paleogeographic reconstruction.
