Malisse Lummus

Malisse Lummus
  • PhD Student

Biography

Malisse graduated with honors from Trinity University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Geosciences. Though her undergraduate work largely focused on hydrogeology, she cultivated her interests in climate science and science education. She is now working with Dr. Leigh Stearns in Glaciology and Remote Sensing.

Education

B.S. in Geosciences, Trinity University, San Antonia, TX

Research

Malisse is focused on understanding the connections between glacier meltwater and stream discharge in the Himalayas. Using a combination of GIS, coding, and statistical software, Malisse is working on identifying physical glacier characteristics that may account for changes in glacial volume over time in conjunction with climate change. Her work has implications on the long term security of the local water supply for communities in High Mountain Asia.
